[Description of the Incident and Cause]
Due to an increase in the volume of virus scan requests, the automatic server scaling (auto-scaling) feature was triggered. However, some of the newly added servers failed to enter a state capable of properly providing the service. This resulted in a shortage of overall processing capacity, causing a delay in the completion of virus scans.
[Time of Occurrence]
Around 16:00 on Friday, June 12, 2026 (JST)
[Corrective Actions Taken]
We isolated the malfunctioning servers from the system and launched additional, healthy servers to restore overall processing capacity. The system has now been fully restored and is operating normally.
[Preventive Measures]
When the issue occurred, a small number of active servers continued to process requests normally. As a result, our existing server-by-server monitoring took time to detect the processing delay affecting the overall system.
Moving forward, we will implement additional monitoring methods from a different perspective—such as tracking the accumulation of backlogged data—to capture overall system performance and strengthen our framework for early anomaly detection.
Once again, we deeply apologize for the significant inconvenience and trouble this has caused.
Thank you very much for your kind understanding and cooperation.
Sincerely,
